Rain brings relief from the heat and a few extra reasons to look after yourself. Small daily habits go a long way.

The monsoon is a welcome break from the heat, but damp weather, wet commutes and changing temperatures can leave many of us feeling run down. A few steady habits help you feel your best through the season.

Eat fresh and eat warm

Choose freshly cooked meals over food that has been sitting out. Seasonal fruit, vegetables, dals and whole grains give you a broad mix of nutrients. Wash produce well before you cook or eat it.

Drink safe water

It is easy to drink less when the weather is cool. Keep a bottle of boiled or filtered water with you, and include warm drinks such as soups or ginger and tulsi infusions if you enjoy them.

Keep hands clean and feet dry

Wash your hands with soap before eating and after coming home. Change out of wet clothes and shoes as soon as you can, and dry your feet properly.

Sleep and move

Seven to eight hours of sleep and some movement every day support your general wellbeing. On rainy days, a short stretch or yoga session indoors still counts.

Some people also like to add vitamin C, zinc or traditional preparations such as chyawanprash to their routine. Supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet. For advice that fits your own health, speak to a Medora pharmacist or your doctor.
