Know where you get off
Goa is not one stop. Mapusa is closest to the northern beaches, Panaji to the city and Margao to the south. Pick the dropping point first, then the bus.
Pick the departure, not just the price
A 7 pm bus reaches by early morning, before the heat. Later buses are cheaper but can lose two hours to traffic leaving the city.
Plan for the monsoon
From June to September the ghat sections are slower. Allow extra time, keep your first morning free, and remember that cancellation is free up to 6 hours before departure if the forecast turns.
