The piece

Luna started as a frame study. We wanted the timber to do the visible work, so the arms are shaped from single lengths of walnut and left with an open grain finish that darkens slowly with handling.

The shell is upholstered in a dense boucle chosen for how it holds shape rather than how it photographs. It is a chair for one person and a lamp, and nothing else.

Materials & care

Solid American walnut frame, hand-shaped and oil finished. Wool-blend boucle upholstery over webbed suspension. Feather-wrapped foam seat.

Brush the boucle with a soft cloth in the direction of the pile. Wipe the walnut with a barely damp cloth and re-oil once a year.
