From Raw Indigo to Undyed Ecru: what each of our washes is, how it is made and how it will age.
Every Marlowe piece starts as the same indigo cloth. What changes is how long it spends in water, stone, salt or bleach.
The dark end
Raw Indigo is untouched. One Rinse is washed once to set the shrink. Black Overdye takes indigo cloth and dyes it again in black, so it fades to slate.
The middle
Mid Stone spends forty minutes with pumice stones for a soft, broken-in blue. Salt Grey starts with a grey-cast yarn and a dry salt wash.
Darker washes tell your story. Lighter washes tell ours.
The light end
Vintage Light is enzyme washed to a flat, sunny blue. Sun Bleach is bleached by hand in small batches. Undyed Ecru skips the dye vat altogether.
