Blown crotches, torn belt loops and one pair of jeans that has been back five times. Inside the repair programme.
Every morning the post brings a few pairs of jeans in our reusable mailers. Some are three months old, some are eight years old. All of them come back to the person who wore them.
Darning, not patching
For worn-through areas we darn: hundreds of passes of indigo thread on a darning machine, following the grain of the twill. Done well, you can barely see it from a step away.
The usual suspects
Crotch blowouts, back pocket corners, belt loops and hems account for almost everything we see. All of them are free on Marlowe pieces.
The best jean is the one you already own. Our job is to keep it going.
