Where our fleece and jersey begin: slow circular machines, combed cotton and a mill that has knitted for three generations.

Almost every Merano hoodie and tee starts in Tiruppur, the town in Tamil Nadu that knits a large share of India's cotton jersey.

Slower machines, denser cloth

Our heavyweight loopback is knitted on older circular machines that run slower than modern ones. Slower knitting packs more yarn into each centimetre, which is why a 480 GSM hoodie hangs the way it does.

Combed, then compacted

The cotton is combed to remove short fibres before spinning, so the fabric pills less. After dyeing, each roll is compacted with steam so the garment you buy has already done its shrinking.

The people

The mill we work with employs 140 people, most of whom have been there for more than a decade. We visit every season, and we publish the audit summary on request.
