About Merano
Why we started
Merano began with one complaint: a good plain T-shirt was harder to find than a loud one. We spent a year on a single tee, a 240 GSM jersey cut boxy with a tight collar, and sold the first run from a rented shopfront in Bandra. We still work that way. A short list of garments, one fabric mill we trust, and nothing released until we have worn it for a season ourselves.
Every new fabric goes through thirty wash cycles before we cut a production run. We measure shrinkage, collar spring and colour loss after each ten. If a cloth twists, pills or fades past our limits, it does not become a Merano garment.
Timeline
- 2019
One hoodie, one mill
Merano starts in Bengaluru with a single heavyweight hoodie, knitted in Tiruppur and sold to friends.
- 2021
The Heavy Tee
Our 240 GSM tee launches online and the first run sells out in eleven days.
- 2023
Shirts and a first store
Oxfords and overshirts join the range. The first Merano store opens in Bandra.
- 2026
Jackets, and four cities
Our first outerwear arrives as stores open in Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad.
