Part shirt, part jacket. The most useful layer in an Indian wardrobe, and how to get the most out of it.

An overshirt earns its place because it works in more situations than almost anything else you own.
Open over a tee
The default. A heavy white tee, the overshirt left open, sleeves pushed up.
Buttoned as a shirt
Done up to the second button with trousers, it is smart enough for most offices.
Over a hoodie
For cooler evenings, layer it over a lightweight hoodie and let the hood sit outside the collar.
Under a jacket
In a Delhi winter it becomes a mid-layer beneath a bomber or a shell.
Tied or carried
On a warm afternoon it rolls into a bag without creasing badly, ready for when the air conditioning is too cold.
