A coat, a knit, a shirt, a trouser and a dress. How the studio team dresses for three months from one short rail.
Every autumn we set ourselves the same exercise: five pieces, ninety days, no exceptions. It is the reason the capsule builder exists.
Start with the coat
The coat is the piece people see most, so it sets the tone. This year it is the Sumi Long Trench: dense, dark and quiet enough to go over everything else on the rail.
Then the two that do the work
A heavy knit and a poplin shirt carry most days. The Ami fisherman knit for cold mornings, the Kaze shirt for everything in between. Both sit under the trench without bulk.
Two neutrals and one accent. Everything else is texture.
A trouser and a dress
The wide pleat trouser and the Kumo column dress cover the days that need a little more. Neither competes with the coat.
Why five
Five is enough to make dozens of outfits and few enough to know each piece well. Build yours in the capsule builder and the saving applies at checkout when all five are in the bag.
