The Keystead buying guide

Buying a home in India takes six steps. Here is what happens at each one, and how long it usually takes.

1. Brief and budget (week 1)

A call with your agent to set areas, budget and must-haves, plus a loan in-principle approval if you need one.

2. Shortlist and visits (weeks 1–3)

We shortlist, you visit. Book visits online on any listing.

3. Offer and reservation (week 3)

When you find the one, reserve it online to hold it for 7 days while we negotiate.

4. Due diligence (weeks 3–5)

Our legal partners check the title, approvals and society papers.

5. Agreement and token (week 5)

You sign the agreement for sale and pay the token amount.

6. Registration and keys (weeks 6–10)

Stamp duty, registration and handover. Your agent stays with you until the keys are in your hand.
