03Pattern

One block, six sizes

Why every piece we make is cut on a single unisex pattern, and what that means when you choose a size.

Most labels keep two sets of patterns, one for men and one for women. We keep one. It took two years to draft and we have not stopped adjusting it.

What a block is

A block is the plain master pattern that every style is built from. Ours has a soft shoulder, a straight side seam and a little more length than usual in the body and sleeve.

How the grading works

Sizes 0 to 5 step up by six centimetres in the chest and waist. The length changes less than the width, because people who are broader are not always taller.

If a coat only looks right on one kind of body, the pattern is not finished.

Choosing your size

Measure a garment you already like, laid flat, and compare it with the table on the product page. Between sizes, take the smaller in coats and the larger in shirting. If we get it wrong, exchanges are free within 14 days.
