What to pack for an island with no shoes

Our butlers see a lot of luggage, and most of it goes home unworn. This is what guests actually use.

Two swimsuits, so one is always dry. A linen shirt and loose trousers for the evening. A rash vest for snorkelling, because the sun on the reef is stronger than it feels. Reef-safe sunscreen, though we supply it if you forget.

Leave at home: shoes with heels, a hairdryer, anything you would mind getting sand in. The villa has beach bags, hats, umbrellas and a library.

Bring a book you have been meaning to read for a year. This is where you will read it.
