Turning down work is the best thing I did for my studio. Here are the three signals that make me pass.
Saying no is a skill, and it took me years to learn it.
No clear owner
If nobody on the client side can make a final decision, the project will drift.
Speculative work
I do not pitch with free designs. I share past work and a clear process instead.
A bad fit
Some projects are simply better served by another designer. I keep a list of friends to recommend.
