I wore the red Kanjivaram for my muhurtham. The silk has real weight and the pleats did not move for six hours.
The saree arrived with fall and pico already done and the blouse stitched to my measurements. I only had to drape it.
Bought the kasavu for Onam and my mother asked where it was from. The cotton is fine and the border has not lost its shine after two washes.

A saree is six yards of fabric and a great deal of decision: the weave, the weight, the border, the blouse. Taani keeps the choice simple. Each saree here names its fabric honestly, shows its true colour in daylight and arrives with fall and pico already stitched, so it can be worn the day it is delivered.
- Which saree is right for a wedding?
- Kanjivaram and Banarasi silks hold their shape, photograph well and carry heavy zari. Choose reds, magentas and golds for the ceremony, and lighter tissue or organza for the reception.
- What should I wear to the office?
- Cotton, linen and Chanderi are light, breathe well and stay pleated through the day. Small checks, stripes and narrow borders read as formal.
- What is a ready to wear saree?
- A saree with the pleats and pallu already stitched. It fastens like a skirt and drapes in under a minute, which makes it ideal for first-time wearers and travel.
- How do I care for a silk saree?
- Dry clean only for the first three washes, store folded in muslin, and refold along new lines every few months so the zari does not crease.
