The simplest colour rule we know: one hero, everything else quiet. Here's how the studio team does it every day.
Colour gets a reputation for being hard. It isn't. The trick is deciding which piece is the hero before you get dressed, then letting everything else support it.
Pick the hero first
Start with the loudest thing you want to wear today: the tomato trouser, the cobalt coat, the butter dress. That piece sets the mood. Everything else is backing vocals.
Quiet the rest
Cream, ink and denim are the three colours that calm anything down. A cream knit under a cobalt coat, ink trousers under a butter turtleneck. Two neutrals and one hero is a formula that never fails.
Two neutrals, one hero. Every single time.
Then break the rule
Once the formula feels natural, try two heroes that sit next to each other on the colour wheel: tomato and butter, cobalt and mint. That's where the fun starts.
