The best wedding flowers are the ones already blooming that month. A plain guide to what is good, and when.
The simplest way to get beautiful wedding flowers is to ask what is growing. Seasonal stems look better, last longer and cost less than anything flown in.
Spring
Ranunculus, tulips, sweet peas and blossom branches. Soft colours, lots of movement and a short season, so book early.
Summer
Peonies in June, then garden roses, dahlias and sunflowers. This is the generous season: big blooms and the widest choice of colour.
Autumn
Dahlias carry on until the first frost, joined by chrysanthemums, grasses and turning foliage. Rust, plum and gold come naturally.
Winter
Anemones, hellebores, evergreens and dried or preserved stems. A winter bouquet with pampas and preserved roses will also keep long after the day.
