Ask anyone in our kitchen which season they like best and the answer is strawberry season. The fruit from Mahabaleshwar starts reaching Pune in the cooler months, and for a few months it is the best fruit we work with.
Mahabaleshwar strawberries are small, deep red and fragrant. They are a little tart, which is exactly what you want in a sorbet or a shake.
When the season is on, the strawberries go into our sorbet, our fresh strawberry shake and the topping on the Choco Berry Waffle. Outside the season we use the best fruit our supplier can find, and we say so.
This year we are also planning a strawberry and cream cake for the season. It will be available by the slice first and as a whole cake with 24 hours notice.
We will post here when the first crates arrive. Until then, the sorbet is on the menu every day.
