Our way

We buy fibre from farms we have walked, weave it close to where it grew, and cut only what we know will be worn. Some pieces we make before you order. The rest we make because you did.

From field to fold

Four seasons in the making

01

Field

Flax is sown in March along the northern coast. It needs no irrigation and blooms blue for a single morning in June.

02

Retting

Pulled, never cut, the stems lie in the field for weeks while dew and sun loosen the fibre. No tanks, no chemicals.

03

Spinning & weaving

Long fibres are spun into yarn and woven in small mills we visit every year, a few hours from the field.

04

Fold

Cut in our studio in small runs, or made to order. Folded in paper, tied with an offcut, sent to you.

“I ordered the Maren made-to-order and it arrived exactly on the date they promised. It fits like it was drawn on me, and it gets softer every week.”
