Why strategy should always come before design
Lina Sato18 Sept 20265 min read

Every week someone asks us for "just a logo". We understand the instinct. A logo is visible, tangible, and it feels like progress. But a logo without a strategy is a guess, and guesses get revised.
The cost of skipping the thinking When a project goes into design without a clear brief, the brief gets written anyway, one round of feedback at a time. That is the most expensive way to write a strategy.
What discovery actually is Two weeks. A workshop with the founders, a handful of customer interviews, a competitor audit and a single page that says who you are for, what you promise and why anyone should believe you.
Then design gets fast Once that page exists, design decisions stop being matters of taste. Does this typeface feel like the promise? Does this colour help the audience trust us? The arguments get shorter and the work gets better.
Strategy is not a delay. It is the shortcut.
