Lighting a small living room

Three sources, two heights and one dimmer. The recipe for a small room that feels generous.

By Lumora Studio

Small rooms ask for more lights, not fewer, just lower and softer.

Start with the ceiling

A single flush or semi-flush pendant gives a base layer. Keep it modest so it doesn't dominate the room.

Add height

A slender floor lamp in a corner draws the eye up and makes the walls feel taller.

Finish at the table

A table lamp on a side table gives the room a warm centre of gravity in the evening. Put them all on dimmers and you can change the mood in a second.
