October is the gap between the monsoon and the season. The paths between Kudle, Om and Half Moon beach are still green, the sea has calmed, and most shacks are only just reopening.
Walk, then swim
The cliff path from Kudle to Om takes about twenty-five minutes. Wear shoes that grip, carry water, and swim at Om where the rocks make a sheltered pool at low tide.
What we packed
A plain one-piece, quick-dry trunks, slides for the rocks, and a sarong that worked as a towel. Evenings are warm enough for linen and nothing else.
Check the tide before you take the rock route to Half Moon.
Getting there
The nearest station is Gokarna Road, and Goa's Dabolim airport is about four hours by road.
