Late Bloom
Quiet strength in full bloom
Flowers photographed the day after they are thrown away. A study in how things look when no one is trying to sell them.
Every Tuesday for a year I collected what the florist on 12th Main could not sell. I photographed each stem once, against black, the morning after.
The point was never prettiness. A wilting petal is a perfect record of time: it folds exactly where it was weakest.
Decay is just form with the pressure taken off.
Late Bloom is the most-collected series in the shop, and the only one printed on cotton rag.
