Why limited editions

How we size an edition, what the number on the back means, and what happens when it reaches zero.

We get asked this a lot, so here it is in one place.

How an edition is sized

Smaller, quieter images get larger editions; images that only work big get smaller ones. Suspension is an edition of ten because it only makes sense at A1 and above.

What the number means

Every print is numbered, signed and embossed, and comes with a certificate that matches the number on the back. The number is recorded against your name in our register.

When it reaches zero

The file is retired. We do not reprint in another size or on another paper. Sold out means sold out.
