Skincare is often sold on outcomes. We think the doing of it matters too. An evening routine is one of the few moments in a day that asks nothing of you but your attention.
Begin with warmth
Rinse your face with lukewarm water and take three slow breaths. Massage your cleansing balm over dry skin for a full minute, working outwards from the centre of the face.
Slow hands
After your serum, press a few drops of face oil or your night cream between your palms. Using your fingertips or a smooth stone tool, sweep gently from the chin towards the ears and from the brows towards the hairline. Keep the pressure light.
What massage can and cannot do
It will not reshape your face. It can ease tension in the jaw and brow, help products spread evenly and leave skin looking briefly fresher.
Finish with your moisturiser, switch off the bright lights and leave your phone in another room if you can.
