Age labels are a starting point, not a rule. Two children born on the same day can be a whole size apart by their first birthday.
Height first
Our growth chart starts with height, because length is what makes a sleepsuit too short in the leg or a dress too short at the hem. Age and weight come second.
The top quarter rule
If your child sits in the top quarter of a size's height range, the helper suggests the next size up. They will grow into it within weeks, and you will get a whole season more wear.
If they are near the top of the range, size up. Every single time.
Built-in growth room
Most of our pieces have room to grow sewn in: roll-back cuffs, let-down hems, growth buttons on dungarees. Sizing up plus a rolled cuff is the cheapest trick in parenting.
