From a sheet of acetate to a hand-polished front: a day on the Halden bench in Aarhus.

Every Halden frame starts life as a sheet of cellulose acetate, made from cotton and wood pulp.
We cut the front on a CNC mill, then everything after that is done by hand: bevelling, pinning the hinges, bending the bridge, and three days of tumbling in birch chips and pumice.
The last step is the one we care about most. Every frame is polished on a cotton wheel until the edges catch the light like still water.
