Meera Iyer on writing in a bookshop
The Printer's Daughter was written at the corner table, under the poetry shelf. We asked her why.
Meera Iyer has been coming to Pagewise since she was a student. For two years she came almost every afternoon, ordered a tea and wrote at the corner table under the poetry shelf.
Why a bookshop?
“Because nobody interrupts you, and if you get stuck there is always a better book within reach to make you feel humble.”
On Basavanagudi
“My grandfather's press was three streets from where the novel is set. The smell of ink is the first thing I remember.”
On the launch
Meera reads from The Printer's Daughter on Friday 7 November at 6:30 pm. Signed copies can be pre-ordered on the book's page.
