Sleep, food, toilet breaks and the one rule that makes everything easier.

The first week sets the tone. Keep it calm, keep it predictable and keep the visitors to a minimum.
Set up one safe space
A crate or a pen with a bed, water and a chew gives your puppy somewhere to settle. Put it where the family is, not in a spare room.
Feed on a schedule
Three or four small meals a day at the same times. Stay on the breeder's food for the first week, then switch slowly over seven days.
Toilet breaks, constantly
After every sleep, every meal and every play session. Praise outside, ignore accidents inside.
Book the first vet visit
A check-up in the first week confirms vaccinations and gives you a chance to ask everything on your list.
