Cloth first.Cut second.
The shop
An outfitter for men who keep their clothes.
Ashford & Kane opened as a single shop with a cutting table in the back room and one rule: sell nothing we would not alter, mend and stand behind for years. Today we are a small team of outfitters and tailors in an old saddlery in Fairhaven, buying cloth from family-run mills and making up tailoring, shirts, knitwear, coats and shoes in small runs.

Natural cloth
Worsted, tweed, oxford cotton, lambswool and full-grain leather. Fabric that ages well and can be repaired.
Small runs
We cut each piece in small numbers and recut the ones men ask for, instead of chasing a season.
Alterations in-house
Our Tailoring Room hems, tapers and suppresses everything we sell. Trouser hems are complimentary.
How a piece is made
Cloth. Cut. Fit. Keep.
Step 1Cloth
Every season starts with swatches from our mills: weights, weaves and colours pinned to the board.
Step 2Cut
Patterns are graded to our own blocks, with a soft shoulder and enough room to move.
Step 3Fit
In the shop, every jacket is tried, pinned and chalked until the line is clean.
Step 4Keep
Bring it back for pressing, repairs and re-fitting. Good clothes outlast their first owner's waistline.
