Women's Livelihoods
An income of her own, earned from her own street.
740 reached this yearWhy this matters
The women who join our livelihood programme usually already have a skill — stitching, cooking, weaving. What they lack is a machine, a little working capital and a buyer who pays on time.
We train in batches of twenty, hand over equipment on a pay-back-what-you-can basis, and organise the women into self-help groups that take orders together. Our CSR partners buy uniforms, cloth bags and festival hampers from them; local shops buy the rest.
Every ₹5,000 sets one woman up with a sewing machine and her first month's material.
