Aster & Vale was founded in Mumbai in 2009 by two architects who wanted to design buildings and the life inside them together.
Today we are 140 people across two studios. We work in six focus areas: housing, interiors, higher education, civic, commercial, hospitality. Every project is led by a partner from first conversation to handover.
What we believe
Keep what works
We start every brief by asking what can stay: a structure, a tree, a habit of use. The greenest building is often the one already standing.
Design in the open
Clients, users and makers sit at the table with us. Decisions are explained, drawn and tested, never handed down.
Built to last
We choose materials that age well and spaces that can change use, so our buildings stay useful long after their first brief.
Our process
Four steps, the same on every project.
Listen
We begin on site and with the people who will use the building. We gather briefs, constraints and ambitions before anyone draws a line.
Shape
Options are tested in models, sketches and daylight studies. You see the trade-offs clearly and choose with us.
Detail
Architecture, interiors and landscape are drawn by one team, so the door handle and the master plan tell the same story.
Deliver
We stay on site through construction and return a year after handover, to learn what worked and fix what didn't.
