The shop
Clothes for people who go outside.
Raijin started in 2011 in a Tokyo backstreet print shop with one rule: make jackets we would wear in the worst weather and repair them for as long as they last. Today we are a small team of designers, cutters and repair techs in an old warehouse in Portland, buying heavy fabric from family-run mills and making jackets, coats, knits, shirts and boots in small runs.

Heavy fabric
Melton wool, waxed cotton, shearling, heavy denim and full-grain leather. Fabric that ages well and can be repaired.
Small runs
We cut each piece in small numbers and recut the ones people ask for, instead of chasing a trend.
Repairs in-house
The Workshop hems, patches and re-proofs everything we sell. Pant hems are free.
How a piece is made
Cloth. Cut. Fit. Keep.
Step 1Cloth
Every season starts with swatches from our mills: weights, weaves and colours pinned to the board.
Step 2Cut
Patterns are graded to our own blocks, with room for a hoodie underneath and a shoulder that moves.
Step 3Test
Every jacket spends a week in real weather with someone who does not work for us.
Step 4Keep
Bring it back for patches, repairs and re-proofing. Good clothes outlast their first owner's mood.
