Keeping balayage bright in Bengaluru water

Hard water is the quiet thief of blonde. Here is how our colourists keep tone fresh between visits.

Most of the city runs on borewell water, and the minerals in it settle on hair a little more every wash. On lightened hair that shows up as a brassy, dull cast within a few weeks.

Filter first A simple shower filter takes out most of the chlorine and some of the minerals. It is the cheapest change with the biggest effect.

Clarify once a fortnight A gentle clarifying wash lifts the build-up. Follow it with a mask, because clarifying also lifts oils your lengths need.

Book a gloss at eight weeks A gloss is not a full colour. It takes forty-five minutes, refreshes tone and adds shine, and it means you can stretch your balayage to four or five months.
