Everything we sell has already been washed, but it will need washing again, and old fabric is less forgiving than new.
Start cold
Cold water and a gentle cycle are enough for almost everything. Heat is what shrinks cotton, cracks old prints and sets stains for good.
Use a bag
A mesh laundry bag stops straps, fringe and loose weaves from catching on the drum. Slip dresses, knits and anything with beads go in a bag or get washed by hand.
When in doubt, wash it by hand in a bucket. Nobody has ever regretted being gentle.
Dry in the shade
Direct sun fades colour quickly, especially reds and denim. Dry pieces inside out, flat for knits and on a hanger for shirts.
Leather and brocade
Do not wash them. Wipe leather with a damp cloth and feed it a little conditioner twice a year. Air brocade and spot clean it.
