A lakeside promise at dusk

Meera and Arjun wanted the ghats, the boats and the last light on the water. Three days, 220 guests and one very patient boatman.

Meera called us eleven months before the wedding with one sentence: the pheras must happen as the sun goes down over the lake.

The plan

We built the whole timeline backwards from 6:12 pm. The mehendi sat on a shaded terrace the afternoon before, the sangeet on a lawn by the water, and the baraat came in by boat.

The décor

Blush roses, champagne linens and hundreds of brass diyas along the steps. The mandap was open on all four sides so nothing stood between the couple and the water.

The day

The light did exactly what we hoped. Arjun's grandmother said it was the first wedding where she could hear every mantra.
